Life On Land

Sustainable Development Goal -15

MUN MEMORIAL TRUST

Our Commitment

At MMT, we are dedicated to preserving and restoring life on land. We recognize the critical importance of terrestrial ecosystems for biodiversity, climate regulation, and human well-being, and we are committed to taking action to protect and sustainably manage land resources. Through our initiatives, we work to conserve biodiversity, combat desertification and land degradation, and promote sustainable land use practices to ensure the health and vitality of ecosystems for current and future generations.

  •  Why Life on Land Matters

Life on land, including forests, wetlands, grasslands, and biodiversity-rich areas, provides essential ecosystem services that support life on Earth. These ecosystems are home to millions of species, regulate the climate, purify air and water, and provide food, medicine, and livelihoods for billions of people. However, human activities such as deforestation, overgrazing, and urbanization are threatening biodiversity and degrading land resources at an alarming rate. By protecting and restoring life on land, we can safeguard biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and secure sustainable livelihoods for communities around the world.

  •  Our Approach

Our approach to advancing SDG 15: Life on Land includes:

Conservation: Implementing measures to conserve and protect ecosystems, habitats, and endangered species.

Restoration: Restoring degraded lands and ecosystems through reforestation, afforestation, and sustainable land management practices.

Sustainable Land Use: Promoting sustainable land use practices, such as agroforestry, organic farming, and responsible forestry, to enhance productivity while preserving ecosystem integrity.

Community Engagement: Engaging local communities and indigenous peoples in the conservation and management of land resources, respecting traditional knowledge and practices.

Education and Awareness: Educating and raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management and empowering individuals and communities to take action.
